The weather was getting colder and the clothes were getting thicker. October was coming to a close and the Freshman was getting more and more depressed. She had a horrible dislike of the cold weather and the long winter months. The days were so short and often cloudy. Winter was just not fun. She much preffered the summer where the days were long and the air was warm. The trees and flowers were all alive and everything seemed so much brighter. At the moment, it seemed as if the world were dying. It was a sad time.
So, in an effort to hold on to what little bit of summer she could, Melissa decided to take a trip to the indoor pool at Hastings. It really was quite convenient having it here. She didn't have to travel to Hartford to use their Aquatics center if she didn't want to. Since the school was well heated, The girl didn't even need to be overly dressed. It would be pointless to get all dressed up just to take it all off when she got there. Her bikini was simple, a white one with a few flower prints on it. She liked it for how cute, yet not over the top it was. She threw on a pair of shorts and a loose tee shirt to get to the pool in. Before she could forget, she grabbed a towel and headed down.
As she arrived, the chlorine hit her nose with a smal sting but she ignored it, knowing she would be desensitized within a matter of minutes. She removed the extra layers of clothing and threw them in a nearby chair. Her bright eyes scanned the area and she found that she was quite alone. It was rather peaceful with no one else in here. The silence was relaxing in a way. Making her way to the diving board, she stepped up. She was no professional swimmer, so she wasn't overly confident in her diving capabilities. With a shrug she jumped off, into what she hoped was a well enough dive. The water hit her skin with a tingling sensation.
Resurfacing, she decided to do a few laps. It felt good to be working her muscles like this. She knew she didn't work out enough and once again made a mental note to try harder. She didn't like being out of shape, but she somehow never got the initiative to try extremely hard to excercise.

outfitOllie had decided to go for a swim. It was getting to be winter, and no person in their right mind would go out and swim at this time, but who ever said Ollie was in his right mind. After all Swimming season didn't start until Spring semester and so it wasn't like he would meet any of the swim team guys, or anything like that but he wanted to start training. That way he could show the coach that he wasn't slacking off during the off season and thus he would be sure to make captain next year. It was dumb tradition that he couldn't be captain as a Freshman. So leaving his dorm he was dressed in only his swim trunks, a pair of flip flops, and a t-shirt. Not very smart for this weather as he would have to walk a short distance in the cold, certainly making his man meat recoil so it resembled a rasinette. Not cool. Luckily though with a few sprints he was back in the warmth of the heated building where the indoor swimming pool, and practically his other home, was located. Yes as an official member of the Hastings Swim Team come swim season he would probably sacrifice his social life in order to partially live here. Just a small sacrifice he would make in order to be the best. Stripping off his clothes he noticed that he was not the only one here as he took the time to look at a girl doing a poor version of the front stroke in the lane closest to the wall. Obviously she was not part of the swim team but he was not going to make an ass out of himself and show her up. That would be stupid. He was here to train and training meant working on his weakest stroke for the 400 medley. His weakest stroke being the stupid, pointless, slow, and most of all annoying breast stroke. Even though it said no running in the pool Ollie did it anyway as he good a good start diving in as his body cleared the two lanes that were in his way sending him into the heated pool as his body glided halfway into the middle off it before he surfaced. Now if only he could have a running start his time for the breast stroke would greatly improve. His head resurfaced as he swam over to the side of the pool ducking under the lane marker to get set up for his first set of laps.

As the need to hold on to summer began to fade from her mind, Melissa began to realize that swimming by herself was actually sort of boring. Sure, she could relax and do whatever she wanted, but there was no one to talk to. She could get quite lonely rather fast. She should have thought to bring someone with her. At least then she would have someone to joke with about how horrible she was at any kind of swimming activity.
She didn't notice when another person entered the area until she saw him running into the water, executing a very smooth dive. She couldn't help but stick out her lip in a small pout. Now why couldn't she do that? Curiousity got the better of her as she couldn't help but watch him. Quietly, she pulled herself up onto the side of the pool and sat with her legs still in the water. Her bright eyes were focused on the boy as he did a few laps. Somehow he looked vaguely familiar. Maybe he was one of her classes or something? He looked as if he might be a Freshman.
As he surfaced in her general area, she let out a low whistle. "Well, it's swimming like that that makes me feel ashamed to be in the same pool as you are." she grinned at that. "I couldn't dare to dream of swimming with ease like that. You must be on the team or something."

Ollie stuck his head under the water pushing off as he let himself guide under the surface before poking his head up to start the breast stroke. Stupid stroke in his opinion as it was a definite disadvantage to be a butterfly swimmer. He was used to going fast, and using his arms to get a faster stroke. Not in this case. Here it was slow and painful but practice would only make him better.
Still though it was just one event and his other stroke more than made up for any time that would be lost doing this one, though he couldn't just have three great strokes and one pathetic weak one because that would be a huge disadvantage to him in competitions. Not that his stroke was weak, just not as good as his other ones. Though he was defiantly the best at the butterfly, there was no competition as that was his fastest stroke, the hardest of all the strokes to learn, and he could beat anyone with it.
He flipped over as he got to the edge pushing off again as he body glided through the water before surfacing again as he started to swim. It was hard with his eyes closed as he was only able to open them for a brief moment, and even then he had to suffer the tiny irritation of the chorine. Though he was used to it and he was able to open his eyes for long periods under water if he need to. Still he should have brought his goggles.
Hearing a whistle he stopped and opened his eyes to see a girl looking at him, or at least in his general direction.
"Well, it's swimming like that that makes me feel ashamed to be in the same pool as you are… I couldn't dare to dream of swimming with ease like that. You must be on the team or something."
Ollie instantly looked around to see if she was talking about some other person because she couldn't be talking about him. There was no one around so she had to be talking about him. "Oh thanks… yeah that wasn't really good so you can spare the compliments." Giving her a smile he moved closer so that he was standing a foot or so away from her legs as his hand went up to mess up some the wet hair that had been slicked down by the water. "You should get in and join me… it's much nice in here than out there." He said while using his other hand to splash some water on her legs.
"I'm Oliver Porter… but you can call me Ollie. You?"

Melissa bit her lip in order to keep herself from giggling as the boy looked around. They were the only people in the room so it looked rather silly. She hoped he wasn't one of those who didn't realize their own talent. It was quite sad when someone refused to believe that they were good at something when they really were. She cocked her head to the side as he looked back at her and waited for his response. She sure hoped he didn't think she was prying in his business or anything, as she had merely been curious. She wondered how people were able to make swimming look so pretty.
She put on a frown. It seemed he was one of those who wouldn't acknowledge their accomplishments. "Well, it was much better than I could do." This much was true. She had no form whatsoever when it came ot swimming. She had never taken classes or anything like that, so she just did whatever and was just fins with it. Even if it didn't look all that great to others.
Her frown dissapeared instantly as the cold water made contact with her legs. She made a shock "uhh" sound before grinning at him. At least this boy seemed to be of the friendly sort. Which was good because Melissa never did like it when she met unfriendly people. They were just no fun to be around. Especially if they were mopey.
"Oh, is that so?" she asked, standing up. She looked down at him with a smirk as he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you Ollie, I'm Melissa Jameson. You can call me Melissa." With that, she promptly jumped into the air and did a cannonball into the water right next to him. She knew that it wouldn't have near the effect that she wanted it to, but it was better than nothing. This was what she got for being skinny.
Resurfacing, she faced him. She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear as she spoke again. "You're right, it's much better in the water."

Ollie looked up at her and smiled when she made a noise. The water wasn't that cold; it wasn't even cold at all seeing as it was fall/winter time and they kept it heated. Not to the point of a bathtub but more so that you wouldn't feel like you were dying if you instantly jumped in. Then again he was a swimmer and swimmers did things differently than other people. Like shaving your legs for instance, girls had a tradition of not shaving in order to have that bit of water resistance for training. It was weird and in his opinion very gross which was one of the reasons that he would never date a swimmer. Plus the female swimmers all seemed to develop man shoulders from swimming so much, another down side to being a woman. As far as shaving your legs went, Ollie only did that at the really important meets, for he would use any tool to have an advantage over his competition.
"You know that really didn't do much…" He said to her as he wiped some of the water off of his face. "It was a nice try though.. "He said as he splashed some water at her again before ducking under the surface as he swam away. Melissa seemed like a nice girl she was cute too which was always a plus. So he was foregoing his training to play around with her but all work and no play made Ollie sad. Resurfacing near the edge of the pool he quickly hopped out as the water started to drip off his trunks. "You really shouldn't have done that…" He said with a mischievous grin on his face.

Melissa couldn't imagine not shaving her legs. In her opnion it was just gross to have hair all over them. Especially since hers was dark. She didn't want to look like a caveman or something. Smooth legs were much better than hairy ones. They were more fun to touch, too. Though, not many people went around feeling her legs. But, she had to keep them soft just in case. You never knew if someone wanted to feel your legs. It was just one of those things.
As for the shoulders, she didn't think she would look very good with big wide ones. She rather liked her dainty figure. It showed that she didn't work out much, but at least it wasn't terrible. She liked her lovely lady lumps and such. It was so much easier to impress a guys with curves instead of bulky legs. Not that she went around trying to impress all of the guys.
She snapped her fingers. "Oh, darn." she said in a mock sad voice. She had figured that her small frame wouldn't be able to conjure up much of a wave. She was suddenly hit again by a splash of water, only this time it made contact with her face. She blinked and Ollie was gone. "Not fair!" she said to him as he resurfaced farhter away from her.
Her eyebrow involuntarily went up as she watched him get out of the water. Oh, wait. She knew what he was doing. Her eyes widened in pretend horror and she gave a little yelp. "Yikes!" she said and submerged herself in the water, hoping he jump in while she was still under. He'd already hit her with a good amount of water twice. She was losing.

Ollie laughed at her as he walked away, pretending that he wasn't going to do anything as he made his way towards the diving board. He wet feet slapped down on the floor as he got closer to his destination. So she was to far away to get an efficient cannonball splash but he could certainly try. After all that was the entire point of things though when it came down to it and she tired to attack him, he would let her win. Girls always had to win or else they got angry.
"All is fair in love and war…" he called back to her as he started to climb the ladder. When he got to the top she was already under water as if that would save her. She couldn't hold her breath forever and if she did well then he would be jumping in for a new reason altogether. He didn't need to be saving anyone today after all he wasn't a hero. "Melissa…" he called out not really sure that she could hear him but he doubted it as he couldn't hear much under the water.
Ollie couldn't wait much longer as he was starting to get a bit cold being out of the water and so he ran off the edge of the diving board. Sending his body hurling down into the pool with his knees tucked up near his chest. If he was lucky he would get her just as she popped up but after this he was done splashing her.
His body hit the water and as soon as the foamy bubbles were out of the way he opened his eyes, feeling the light stink as he looked for a where her body was. Stealthy swimming over as he popped up right next to her and smiling as if nothing had ever happened.

Right before she submerged herself under the surface, she got a good look at his body for the first time and she had to say that it was quite distracting. Hey, it wasn't her fault that a dripping wet male just happened to be very attractive. It was her nature as a teenage girl to notice this. Melissa realized that this was her first water fight with a good-looking guy and she felt a pang of excitement. She figured she had a right to be excited about this and didn't get embarrased, besides, her warm cheeks were surrounded by a pool of water at the moment, away from his eyes. How convenient.
She didn't hear him call her name as he looked out over the diving board. The water was blocking her hearing at the moment, and she realized that she was starting to run out of oxygen in her lungs.
So finally she popped back up, unsure of if he had jumped back in yet. As soon as she let the air fill her hungry lungs she felt yet another wave of wet hit her in the face. Wow. She was so cool. Wiping her eyes, she looked around to see that he had not yet resurfaced. But, suddenly, he was.
"Ah!"she exclaimed. She hadn't realized he would be so close to her. "So, you try to drown me and give me a heart attack. I must have made a bad impression on you." she gave a small smirk.

Ollie frowned as he looked as her skinning his body down into the pool so that they were eye level. That wasn't what he was trying to do at all but it was a good thing he knew she was joking. "Maybe you should teach me a lesson…" flipping a but of the water at her though the wave was not big enough to do any damage.
"I a trying to be playful… you are the one who can't fight back…but if it will make you feel any better…" Oliver didn't complete his sentence as he let his body slide under the water going down to the bottom as he just sat down and waited for her to do something. Not that she could do anything as he was sure he could counteract anything that happened. If she were to sit on him the he would just have to pick her up and carry her skinny body around, but for now he was just content with sitting at the bottom of the pool.
He could hold his breath for a while and it was a definite advantage to be on the swim team, while other people were allowed here on Monday through Thursday Fridays were from the swim team only and maybe if she were lucky he would invite her to come hang out here during the off limits time.

'Wow. Did he seriously just say that?' Melissa played it back in her memory and it seemed that he had. She couldn't help a smirk that made its way on her face at his words. He just wasn't playing fair. She wondered if he realized that if he wanted to, he could have any girl eating out of the palm of his hand. She sort of hoped he didn't. Knowledge like that tended to go to a guy's head. Ian Roberts was a perfect example of that.
"A lesson, huh?" she asked, trying desperately to sound as suave as he had. Sadly, she failed miserably. She felt the urge to pout, but kept it in for appearances sake. She didn't know how he would take to seeing her all of a sudden stamp her foot and sigh angrily.
"I can fight-" But before she could finish her sentence, he slipped under the water and she stopped speaking. Automatically taking a step back, Melissa eyed the blurry figure that she was sure was Oliver. Quite a few expressions passed her face until she settled for confused. What did he hope to accomplish by sitting on the bottom of the pool? He wasn't going to pull her under, was he? She took another step back in precaution.
As the seconds ticked by, she grew more and more awkward. She certainly hoped he wasn't drowning down there. Heaving a sigh, she decided to give into that old saying. 'If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.' So, she took in a deep breath and pulled herself to the bottom of the pool as well, facing him. She squinted her eyes open so she could see a little bit into the chlorine.

Ollie just watched as she came down to join him. He really had no idea what she was doing as this was a weird reaction girls always seemed to sit on him or manipulate him in some other was so to where he would then have to carry them around. Not that he minded as long as they weren’t whale size and scary looking. Melissa was defiantly not whale size and scary looking.
Extending his hand out in an E.T. fashion Ollie moved as he poked her exposed belly button letting a few air bubbles escape from his mouth as he floated up to the surface for air. Okay so what was he going to do now if all she did was mimic his actions this would be no fun. He needed excitement. This well this was getting a bit boring for him but it was better than doing laps.
OOC Sorry I did not know what the hell to write.

Melissa was very aware that she would not be able to stay in that position for very long. For one, the water was not her friend, and for another her lung capacity was not the longest. She had not been expecting his next move at all. She let out a flow of bubbles in surprise. She was getting the feeling that Oliver was a bit more strange than she had first predicted. Waiting a few seconds after he went to the surface, she joined him once again. "Well, that was fun." She commented.
She could only think of one other boy who would think of poking her in the belly-button at the bottom of a pool and that was her best friend. Briefly she wondered what he would think of this little encounter if he happened to walk in on it. Well, it probably did look very much like flirting. That would have been bad, right? Or maybe not. Every boy needed a healthy dose of jealosy.
In an attempt to point their meeting in a direction that didn't involve him splashing her in any way, she made a suggestion. "So, you said you were on the swim team, right? Well, maybe you can teach me to not suck so much at my swimming technique...If you can call it a technique." she grinned at this.

"Okay if hanging out at the bottom of the pool is your idea of fun… then we have some problems." He smiled at her keeping his head down low so it still met hers. That was the problem about the lap lanes they were always so shallow only about 5' deep or so and so he was easily touching.
"Okay well first off it is not a technique… more like failing your arms around in the water… funny but not very affective… and I mean my words in the best sense possible." Ollie ducked his head down in the water as he went under the lap lane back out towards the deeper, diving end of the pool. "Come on if I am going to teach you anything it will be over here…" He ducked his head under water again as he did a handstand causing his leg, part of his swim trucks, and feet to stick out of the water as he walked on his hands towards the deeper end. Not very efficient way of moving though the water but it was fun. Fun only until he hit the semi steep gradient that led him to the deep end in which he promptly flipped back over. "Okay let's see your stroke…" Ollie smiled at her as he began to tread water, at least this way he would get a bit of a work out.

Normally the first thing she could think of as fun would be to be sitting on the bottom of the pool. He obviously had missed the sarcasm in her statement. Either that, or he was coming back with sarcasm of his own. It was hard to tell sometimes.
She had already noticed that even though they were submerged in water, she was still the shorter of the two. It seemed life did not give her any breaks in that department. She was pretty much shorter than everyone she knew. There were a few exceptions, but it was quite annoying to know people two or three years younger than herself that were much taller than her. She must have been skipping on the day they gave out the tall genes.
She gave a mock frown. "Oh, haha. You are hilarious." she said. And this time she was sure the sarcasm was heavy enough for him to not miss it by a mile. She didn't mind his comment though, because it was somewhere close to the truth. She was also skipping on the day they gave out the good swimming genes.
She laughed at his attempt to walk on his hands. Why he felt he needed to move to the deeper end of the pool was beyond her. Maybe he did actually have the intention of drowning her. Maybe after enjoying the show that was sure to be her swimming. "My stroke? As in the normal one?" She wasn't exactly familiar with the swimming terms. Sure, she knew what the doggie paddle was. But that was about it.
