Generally laid back in nature, Ben has a come what may attitude. He’s never been one to freak out if he didn’t have control over every little detail. Sure, like anyone he likes to be able to make his own future, but he feels that a lot of what he has experienced is just luck. Most of the time he likes to have a smile on his face which is something he can say is easily achieved. It’s hard to get Ben in a bad mood, and when is angry, he usually doesn’t lash out. He has an incredible talent of staying calm and collected almost to the breaking point. He knows not to keep it inside, though, and he usually vents by playing along with angry rock. It helps to soothe him.
Not overly shy in any way, shape, or form, Ben is easy to get along with. He’s an emotional guy, though most of the time he doesn’t want to show it. He can be a great shoulder to cry on. He’ll always try to cheer someone up if their having a crappy day, and he usually succeeds. Ben is very loyal to his loved ones. Despite the distance he has with his family, he wouldn’t hesitate to do anything for them.
One of the things that Ben loves most in life is words. He’s always been fascinated by the impact that his parents and people like them would have on others merely by talking to them. As a result to his love of words, he sometimes tends to use very large words in everyday conversation that some people just don’t know.
When he is teaching, Ben is fun and loves to have the class join in on everything. He is a strong believer that all aspiring writers can do whatever they want and he likes to teach that way. He’s had a few comments on the way he teaches and they have all been positive.
Any Secrets?:
He thinks he may have impregnated a girl when he was in Spain. There was too much alcohol involved that night.
Physical Appearance:
Ben’s hair is a light shade of brown and cut short, always styled in an odd fashion. His eyes are a dark bluish green and always full of emotion. He’s not overly tall, standing at 6’0”. His skin is somewhere between pale and slightly tan. He’s never had a problem with it and has never had the urge to try tanning on purpose. Since Ben likes to work out every once in a while he has a good amount of muscle. He’s not buff, and would never claim to be. He has never been self-conscious about the way he looks and is rather happy with it.
Ben has the gritty rocker vibe about him. Which is the main reason for that scruff on his face. He loves to dress in dark colors with manly jewelry. He rarely ever wears tennis shoes, preferring a variety of boots. Mostly he tries to make his look classy as well. He will complete his outfit with a nice jacket or tie or sometimes both.
Biography:
Benjamin Gallagher was born into big money. His parents were both very successful lawyers. His two older brothers followed in their footsteps and it was expected that Ben would do the same. However, from a very young age he knew that he would never set foot in a court room. Yes, he had that incredible gift to give a great speech, but he wanted to take that in a new direction.
He had been one of the few in his family that didn’t take their money for granted. In fact, he was almost ashamed that he was rich. He insisted on getting a job when he was a student, and tried to pay for as much of his college tuition as he could.
When in high school, Ben took all the writing classes he could, wanting more and more of those fantastic things known as words. He was even officially labeled the “Word Nerd” by one of his brothers and has been known as such for quite a while. Music as well was a big influence on the man. He found that he was often putting his words into rhythms and essentially making them into songs. He learned to play the guitar and the piano and was hooked on the way it made him feel. He was even in a couple rock bands throughout the years. Music took a backseat to his other favorite thing, however.
When Ben attended college, he majored in Journalism. He knew that he wanted to work on one of those fast-paced newspapers where the quarters were cramped and tempers ran high. In fact, he even got a job working at the New York Times at the ripe age of twenty-one. His dream had come true and he was a part of that world. After three years of living in New York, he realized that his life was spinning by so fast that he wasn’t sure if it was on fast forward. And so, one day he woke up and realized that he needed a change. It pained him to quit his job since he loved it so much, but he wanted to take some time to really live life.
Ben took the money that he had saved up and spent an entire year traveling the world. He went to Spain, France, London, Italy, and the Czech Republic. At the end of this cultured year, he was ready to come back to the states. Surprising even himself, Ben had yet another change to make to his occupation. He knew how much his teachers had impacted him and made him want to do the best he could. He wanted to instill this same feeling into future writers. He applied for a position as a Professor of Journalism at Hastings University. He chose this school because of its astonishing background and because he wanted to show that even Ivy League Professors could have a little fun.
{But It's Better If You Do}
Family At Hastings: None Sexuality: Straight Current Residence: A very nice house in the outskirts of Easton. Classroom Description: The room itself is the classic square. Stadium seating makes it easier for all of the students to get a look at the teacher. The desk in the far corner is always littered with papers that never seem to be in any kind of order. Mr. Gallagher has decided to decorate his walls with random band posters. Most of them are classics, but every now and then, there will be a few that the students actually recognize. An expensive stereo sits on the wall opposite of the desk and is almost always turned on. Even during class.
