Alec sighed softly as he sat on an unoccupied bench. This place was quite... ritzy for his own liking. He still wasn't used to a life like this. A life outside. Let alone actually having a life. And living it. Most of the time it was just overwhelming and the urge to just stay out of sight and just hide away would hit him so fast it made his head spin. Lucky for him, his mother was there to help straightened things out. God bless his mother.
Licking his lips, he pulled out a folded almost crumpled piece of paper. Alec unfolded it and looked at the list he had created not too long ago. He had been there scouting since the place opened this morning. It was almost lunchtime and he had yet to select and buy the perfect gift. At least the perfect gift according to him. Tomorrow was his mother’s birthday and he wanted to give her something. Something memorable. Something precious. Something that would actually fit his budget. Who knew shopping for a gift was this hard?
He heard his stomach grumble in protest. Great. That would mean he would have to use some of the money he had saved for him to be able to get a decent meal. Lifting his head up, his eyes landed on the food establishment near him. Too expensive. Hell, he couldn’t even pronounce what they were offering. It wasn’t even English. Guess he would have to settle for something more cheaper yet something that would satisfy his hunger. Licking his lips, Alec finally stood up and began his hunt.

Okay, it was official. Melissa needed someone a bit more...rational to come shopping with her. She had hoped at the beginning of this trip that she would not end up buying about half of each store she went into. Sadly, she was just not strong enough to fight the urges of fashion. Next time she came, she would bring someone who knew how to say no. Well, that certianly left Arianna Porter out of that. Honestly, if they had been shopping together, Melissa might even have more than she did now.
This had been her first trip to the mall in quite some time and she hadn't realized how thirsty she was for it. Comng alone had not been the greatest of ideas for more than one reason, for one her credit card was about to collapse, and for another, so were her arms. She always seemed to forget how heavy multiple shopping bags could be. When she only hada few, it was no problem, but by the time she hit seven, she was internally kicking herself.
As she managed to glance at her watch, a frown made its way to her lips. She realized that it was right about lunchtime and she was getting hungry. Needless to say, shopping was like excercise, it used all of her strength. Maybe she would stop by one of the restaurants and sit down for a bit. She was not looking forward to dragging all of these out to her car. Honestly though, she hadn't visited all of the places she'd wanted to explore. She supposed she could always come back next weekend.
Making her way down the crowded hall, her eyes scanned the area for close by restaurants. As she passed one of the dress shops, her eyes were drawn to a rather cute ensemble in the display case. She couldn't help but notice that that particular piece would look exceptionally cute on her. Maybewith a few touch ups here and there. Sadly, while her eyes and mindwere distracted by the pretty patterns, she was not paying any attention to where she was walking. Obviously, since Melissa was her oh-so-lucky self, she just happened to run right into someone else.
The sudden impact startled her out of her day dream and her bags flew to the ground. Shock filled her face as she realized what happened. "Oh, I'm so sorry." she said to the boy whom she had impacted with before she bent over to pick up her scattered things.

Alright. Rule number for going about the mall? Look at where you are going. Of course with the expertise he had on the matter, Alec must have left his presence of mind on that bench he had vacated not too long ago. He made a mistake of letting his eyes wander about with an intention of finding the right place to eat. And with the right price range at that. The contact wasn’t that hard but it did caused him to almost lost his balance. Almost. His arms flailed slightly as he stumbled a few steps back as a result of the collision. That seriously pulled him out of his current daze. "Oh, I'm so sorry."Alec knitted his brows as he looked at the girl. She was sorry? She must be kidding. He should be the one saying that not her. Because the last time he checked, he was the one who wasn’t looking at where he was going. Pressing his lips, he made a move to help her pick up the thing s she had been carrying from the tiled floor. “No, I’m sorry. I wasn’t even lookin’ at where I was going…” Great. He really had to be very careful next time. He felt like he was lucky though. At least she hadn’t bitched at him about what had happened. She could have blamed what happened solely to him but she didn’t. For that he was grateful. At least for now. (ooc - thanks for posting

((Hah, no problem. This looked like it could be a lot of fun. XD))
"Um, neither was I, honestly." she said. She hadn't even noticed that his eyes were not where they were supposed to be either when they had collided. She had been to occupiedwith her bags fallingto teh ground. She didn't blame him, though. She had been looking at that outfit, after all.
"Thanks." She said as he bent over to help her. She really was kicking herself now for having bought so much stuff. Her motto usually was that one could never have enough clothes, but maybe it was as long as one wasn't buying them all at the same time. This little incident might help her to not buy so much the next time she went shopping. Maybe.
As she finally got all of teh items back in their proper places, she looked up at the unfamiliar person that she had pretty much mowed down. "Sorry." she repeated. "I don't usually attack people I don't know with a barrage of shopping bags." she gave a small smile at this, hoping that he wouldn't hate her. She didn't like it when people hated her.

"Um, neither was I, honestly."
At least he wasn’t the only one being careless. And it was safe to say now that he wasn’t the only to blame for the said unfortunate accident. Although he doubted it was unfortunate. No one got hurt. She was fine and so was he. And he was sure nothing was broken on her part. Well her stuff that is.
After he was done helping her, he finally stood up and offered her a small smile when she looked at him.
"I don't usually attack people I don't know with a barrage of shopping bags."
Alec couldn’t help but chuckle softly. “And I don’t have a habit of getting attacked by someone with a barrage of shopping bags.” Pressing his lips, he presented to her a rather charming smile.
“I’m Alec. And I’d offer you my hand for a hand shake but it looks like that’s not gonna happen…” He said as he nodded towards the array of paper bags on her hand. Well someone went shopping crazy today. And it was sure wasn’t him. He hadn’t meant to tease the girl but he couldn’t help it. What was it with girls and shopping anyway?

No, neither Melissa nor her belongings had been injured. It helped that most of what she had gotten had been clothing. There were a few accesories, but nothing she was too overly worried about. She was a smart shopper, after all. She wasn't going to buy a lot of easily breakable items. Because with her luck, they were usually broken within the first twenty-four hours of her ownership. Sad, but true.
Her smile widened at his laugh. At least he seemed to be the good-spirited type. This made a wave of relief wash through her as she realized that he wasn't likely to change his mind and be angry. "That's good then." she commented.
"Melissa." she gave him her name. Looking down at her bags, she smiled sheepishly. "Well, I could curtsy for you." she said with a laugh. Her knees automatically bent, and she tilted her head down in the perfect little princess curtsy. She had learned that a long time ago. It was part of the perks of being a rich girl. You learned things like proper greetings and what not.
Suddenly, and quite to the embarassment of the young woman, Melissa's stomach gave a rumble. She could feel a slight shade of pink rest on her cheeks. "Sorry." she said for what felt like the twenty-second time in the last five minutes. "Shopping works up an appetite."

"Well, I could curtsy for you."
Alec made some sort of pouting with his lips as he nodded. That was a good one even he had to admit. Although he hadn’t had come across with lots of curtsies so he didn’t have anything or anyone to compare it to. It wasn’t like he lead a normal life and had normal wacky friends to fool around with.
The grumble was quiet yet he heard it loud and clear. Alec had to stifle the onset of a soft chuckle as he looked at her.
"Shopping works up an appetite."
Alec had to nod in agreement with that and he remembered why he was walking about in the first place.
“I know what you mean.”
When opportunity knocks, never let it pass you. The older teen pressed his lips as he tilted his head slightly to the side.
“You wouldn’t happen to know some place I can eat that’s within a reasonable price range would you? I’m on a budget.”
He seriously didn’t have the need to hide that he wasn’t from a family with money. And he didn’t have the need to play pretend with anyone of them. If they wanted to hang out with him then well and good. But if not, then he wasn’t going to force them. He wasn’t going to drop dead without them.

Melissa had always had some wacky friends to fool around with. It was partly why she wasn't afraid to be herself around people she didn't know. She liked to think that she was rather outgoing and easily approached. She figured that she wasn't the type who would scare someone awayvery easily. Which was good. She didn't much like scaring people.
She gave a soft laugh at his question. "Well, I'm not completely familiar with this mall just yet, but I think there might be a fast food place somewhere near here." Her eyes darted to the Italian restaurant that was close by. She had never much liked Italian food and she cringed at the thought of a few of the dishes. "I think I should be eating there as well. It seems that mosto f my money has already been spent." she gave a grin at this. Hey, just because she was rich didn't mean she wanted to spend all of the money.
"We could look for it together, if you don't mind. A team effort might help us out." She hoped he would say yes, knowing that she would enjoy the company. Even if it was someone she didn't know.

"Well, I'm not completely familiar with this mall just yet, but I think there might be a fast food place somewhere near here."
Huh. It seems like he had stumbled upon another newbie like him. Well when it comes to knowing the mall anyway. He had been here at Hastings for two years and he has yet to master places like, ehem, this mall. Yeah he doesn’t really go out much. If he did, it meant that he was going to hang out at some friend’s house and that’s it. He hasn’t hit any local bars or clubs. And he preferred it that way. He still wasn’t sure if he was ready for that kind of normalcy. No matter how much his mother had told him otherwise.
"I think I should be eating there as well. It seems that most of my money has already been spent."
Alec darted his gaze down to the shopping bags she had with her. An amused grin upturning the corners of his mouth.
“I can totally see that…”
The older teen let his eyes settle back on her. He really hoped she didn’t mind him acting like they have been friends for quite sometime. He couldn’t help it. She had been easy to well deal with. And she had been the first one to show that she was someone you shouldn’t be scared of. That and she didn’t look the type that would deck him for being friendly towards her.
"We could look for it together, if you don't mind. A team effort might help us out."
Pressing his lips, Alec nodded. “Yeah sure. I don’t mind if you don’t mind. And I could use some company. An’ maybe you can help me out? Seeing as you look like an expert on shopping…”

Melissa had only just started the school year. That was really the only reason she was so unfamiliar with the Mall. The mall was one of her favorite places to be. She had no doubt that within a couple months, she would be able to navigate this place with her eyes shut. She had been to the mall nearest her home in New York so many times that she was surprised that they hadn't built a shrine for her. She was sure the amount of money she'd spent there would pay for one. Or four.
She laughed at his comment. "Yeah, I have a sort of shopping problem. I've been thinking about counceling. You know, Shoppers Anonymous." Harr harr, she was so funny. She honestly didn't even realize half of the smart remarks she was making until they were out. She was glad that this boy seemed to be rather nice, otherwise she could be getting dirty looks or angry words. Neither of which she enjoyed.
Melissa didn't mind him acting like they were friends at all. In fact, she preffered it. She was never a fan of the awkward small talk that came with meeting someone. So, when they talked to her like thye knew her, it was so much more comfortable. Melissa was the same way, she could act as if she'd known someone for years even if she'd just met them recently. She lived in the fast lane in more ways than one.
The girl shook her head. "I don't mind at all." she gave a soft smile. She couldn't help but cock her head to the die. "Help you out? I'd be glad to. I love any opporturnity to put my shopping expertise to work. But first, I'm afraid I must eat."

"Yeah, I have a sort of shopping problem. I've been thinking about counceling. You know, Shoppers Anonymous."
Alec laughed softly at the remark. It was a seriously good and rather witty rejoinder. He had to give her credit for that. Ahh… what was it really with girls and shopping? He really didn’t see any thrill to it? Even with his most comfortable sneakers on, the idea alone of having to go through each and every at this Mall was already tiring. How much more if you really had to do it? This was something he just didn’t understand. And he wasn’t even going to attempt it. He didn’t want a freaking headache before the day was through.
"Help you out? I'd be glad to. I love any opporturnity to put my shopping expertise to work. But first, I'm afraid I must eat."
The other teen smiled and nodded in agreement. “I’m with you on that one.” He replied before darting his eyes towards her ridiculous baggage. He was sure that was going to regret the offer but still…
“Here, let me at least help you with those bags…”
Hey, his mother didn’t raised him to be brute. He felt like offering and hopefully she would take advantage off it. Besides, it was the least he could do in return of her helping him out later. After all, he was still a stranger to her and vice versa.
